Important Information

Before You Test...

  • You or your child have not taken antibiotics within the past 4 weeks.

  • For newborn testing, wait until your baby is at least 7 days old before collecting the sample. 

  • If you prefer results without probiotic influence, pause use for 3–5 days before sampling (optional). 

  • Specimens should be stored in a refrigerator until ready to be transported. DO NOT FREEZE

  • Ensure all patient information is fully completed on the collection tube.

General Guidelines

General Guidelines to follow when in the process of collecting your sample to ensure accurate results.
  • This kit is for a one-day stool collection sample

  • Do Not discard the fluid in the Green Top Tube or the Orange Top Vial

  • Avoid contact with the fluid in the Green Top Tube. If contact occurs with the eyes or skin, wash the area thoroughly with water.

  • Do Not Inhale or ingest the fluid from the Green Top Tube or the Orange Top Vial

  • Do Not Shake the Red/Blue Top Transfer tube.

  • Keep out of reach of children.

Medical Precautions

Medical Precautions

2 weeks before the test: Cease taking antibiotics, antifungal drugs, and NSAIDs unless instructed otherwise by your practitioner.

3 days before the test: Cease taking oral castor oil, probiotics, laxatives, aspirin, or ibuprofen. Also cease taking all gut-associated supplements like pre- and probiotics, digestive enzymes, detox/liver herbs and minerals, and amino acids unless instructed otherwise by your practitioner.

2 days before the test: Follow your normal diet, including the following foods if possible: meat, fish, poultry, vegetables (raw and cooked), carbohydrates (potatoes, rice, pasta, bread), and fats (butter, margarine, oils). If you do not eat some of these foods, you can still do the test. Vegetarians and vegans should eat their normal diet.

 

Collection Instructions

Before you start, Make sure you...

Clearly fill out all patient information and the questionnaire on the Test Requisition Form

Clearly Fill out all test tubes with your Name, Date of Birth, Date of Collection, and Time of Collection.

Complete requisition form and label tubes (name, DOB, collection date).

Prepare stool sample using diaper or toilet paper.

Fill Green tube with stool from varied areas, make sure not overfill.

Seal Green tube and shake for 10 seconds to mix contents.

Fill the Red tube the same way and seal tightly but do not shake.

Swab stool, insert it into the Orange vial, mix, then snap off the shaft of the swab, and seal.

Place all tubes in biohazard bag and add requisition form to the outer pocket.

Ship same day or refrigerate before sending out. DO NOT FREEZE SAMPLE

Important: Missing or incomplete information on the test requisition form may delay processing of your specimen.
