Important Information

  • Urine samples should be collected as a first-morning void, with no urination for a minimum of 6 hours prior to specimen collection.

  • Blood samples must be collected while fasting for a minimum of 10 hours prior to collection.

  • Collect Specimens ONLY on Tuesday & Wednesday Mornings.

  • Ensure all patient information is fully completed on the collection tube.

General Guidelines to follow when in the process of collecting your sample to ensure accurate results.

General Guidelines

  • Specimens must be collected using the tubes provided inside this collection kit.

  • Fast for a minimum of 10 hours prior to specimen collection.

  • 4 Days prior to collecting specimens, discontinue all supplements including protein powders.

  • 24 hours prior to collecting specimens, avoid eating or drinking products that contain aspartame, MSG, or general overconsumption of any particular food.

  • Limit fluid intake to avoid a diluted sample.

  • DO NOT proceed with sample collection if you are menstruating.

  • Do not perform this test if you are taking blood thinners or have blood clotting disorders (unless authorized by your healthcare provider).

  • Immunosuppressive drugs (e.g., prednisone), immune-modulating drugs, and topical cortisone suspensions and creams may alter test results.

  • Consult with your healthcare provider prior to making any changes to your current medication regimen.

  • We recommend maintaining usual dietary habits prior to specimen collection and to consult with your healthcare practitioner before making any changes to your diet.

Collection Instructions

Before you start, Make sure you...

Clearly fill out all patient information and the questionnaire on the Test Requisition Form

Clearly Fill out all test tubes with your Name, Date of Birth, Date of Collection, and Time of Collection.

Confirm the patient has fasted for a minimum of 10 hours.

Step 1

Complete requisition form and label tubes (name, DOB, collection date).

Step 2

Perform a blood draw, filling each blood collection tube completely.

Step 3

Expand the collection cup.

Step 4

Perform a mid-stream catch, filling collection cup only 3/4 full.

Step 5

Pipet urine into transfer tubes, repeating until filled to 8 mL, and seal.

Step 6

Place all tubes in biohazard bag and add requisition form to the outer pocket.

Step 7

Enclose biohazard bag within crush-proof box and place into return shipping envelope.

Step 8

Ship same day or refrigerate before sending out. DO NOT FREEZE SAMPLE
