Laboratory Accessioning Lead

US BioTek, a growing laboratory in Shoreline with a wonderful group of employees, is seeking a Lab Accessioning Lead to join our Specimen Processing team. This full-time role will work in our clinical testing facility and assist management to ensure lab specimens are processed effectively, efficiently, and in compliance with SOP.

 

We are looking for a detail-oriented candidate who possesses strong communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills, with the desire and ability to help train and lead by example.

Primary Duties include:

• Assist department manager with team training and ensuring laboratory specimens are processed in a detailed and organized manner in compliance with
• Support team goals to ensure service efficiency, participating in problem-solving, demonstrating support for policies, sharing expertise, and contributing to team responsibilities.
• Complete daily checkoff on specimens in a timely and thorough
• Accurately process standard requisitions per approved procedures at a rate of 65 accessions per hour, bulk sheet upload at a rate of 150 accessions per hour.

• Consult with manager on processing tasks to learn through
• Effectively manage and respond to clients that requires additional attention.
• Perform laboratory specimen processing consisting of receiving, identifying, assigning accession numbers, sorting, preparation and internal laboratory distributing of blood and urine specimens in a prompt manner.
• Examine specimens for adequacy and Identify problems with specimen types, missing information, etc. and resolve them.
• Effectively respond via phones calls and emails regarding client’s inquires and specimen issues.
• Assist in building on existing customer base by providing the highest level of customer service and support.
• Comply with applicable laws and regulations (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment and Occupational Safety Health Administration), and all company procedures and policies.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

Qualifications and Skills Required:

• Two years lab-related experience AND at least one year experience in Specimen Processing/Lab Accessioning.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; strong keyboarding and data entry skills.
• Regular and predictable attendance; ability to work holidays and weekends, as needed.
• Goal oriented mindset, committed to a high standard of integrity and work ethics.
• Able to work independently and organize work to meet established deadlines.
• Able to handle biological materials.
• Able to sit and use the computer on a daily basis for an extended period of time.
• Able to perform a variety of duties (multi-task) with a high emphasis on teamwork, detail, and sense of-urgency.

 

Hourly Rate: $22 - $28, DOE

 

Shift: 8-hour rotational schedule between the hours of 8 am and 8 pm (including Saturdays on a rotational basis). We will consider FT or PT status, but schedule flexibility is required.
