Important Information

  • Collect first morning urine into any clean cup (void first portion of urine, then from mid-stream on, fill cup with urine).

  • Place absorbent pad portion of Collection Strips into the cup which contains the first morning urine, and leave them inside the cup for 15 seconds to ensure complete saturation. To avoid contamination, do not touch absorbent pads.

  • Take the Collection Strips out of the cup, briefly allowing them to drip freely

  • Strips must be allowed to dry completely after collection.

  • Make sure the filter paper is completely dry before folding the collection card and placing it in the Biohazard Bag!

Urinary Metabolic Profile

Suggested to avoid the following foods for 48 hours prior to urine collection:

Beverages Vegetables/Fruits
- Alcoholic Beverages - Avocado
- Tea - Tomato
- Coffee - Banana
- Juice (See Vegetables/Fruits - Grapes/Raisins
   list to the right)  - Kiwi
  - Pineapple
Other  - Plantain
- Aged Cheese  - Plums/Prunes
- Processed Cheese   
- Jell-O   See/Nuts 
- Vanilla Extract   - Walnut 
- Ketchup   - Pecan

Collection Instructions

Before you start, Make sure you...

Clearly fill out all patient information and the questionnaire on the Test Requisition Form

Clearly Fill out the back of the Dried Urine Card with your Name, Date of Birth, Date of Collection, and Time of Collection.

Step 1 Wash Your Hands

Step 1

Wash your hands thoroughly to prevent contamination.

Step 2 unfold cup

Step 2

Unfold the collapsible urine cup.

Step 3 Urinate in Cup

Step 3

Urinate into the cup until it is 75% full.

Step 4 Fill out Dried Urine Collection Card

Step 4

Fill out the back of the Dried Urine Collection Card.

Step 5 Don't Touch paper

Step 5

Do not touch the filter paper with your hands at any point.

Step 6 Place Filter in Cup

Step 6

Open the cardboard cover to expose the filter paper. Place the filter paper into the collapsible urine cup.

Step 7 Let Card Saturate

Step 7

Let the filter paper sit until both squares of the paper are COMPLETELY saturated.

Step 8 Let Card Dry

Step 8

Remove the filter paper and prop it up to AIR DRY completely (for at least 8 hours).

Important: Missing or incomplete information on the test requisition form may delay processing of your specimen.
