The tests provided through this program are performed using real time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) technology, as required for travel to Hawaii, and can be performed by either Nasopharyngeal Swab or Saliva collection methods. US BioTek will provide results within 36 hours with an option for expedited results within 24 hours*.

Hawaiian Airlines passengers can choose from four locations in the greater Seattle and Portland areas, and easily schedule and pay for a testing appointment online to obtain the approved testing required to visit the State of Hawaii. 

According to the guidelines from the State of Hawaii, all travelers must schedule a testing appointment no later than 72 hours before the departure of the last leg of the journey arriving in Hawaii. Testing is available to all customers, regardless of symptoms.

Effective November 24, 2020, travelers who have not yet received their negative COVID19 test results prior to departure for Hawaii, will go into quarantine with no ability to come out of quarantine.

The State of Hawaii Pre-Travel Testing Program requires passengers five and older to take a Nucleic Acid Amplification Test (NAAT) from a Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) certified laboratory within 72 hours from the final leg of departure and produce a negative result in order to proceed without the state’s 14-day mandatory quarantine. A trained professional must observe all tests.

The tests provided by US BioTek, in partnership with Hawaiian Airlines meet these requirements and are an accepted Trusted Testing and Travel Partner from the State of Hawaii.

When and how quickly will I receive my test results?

We will notify you via email to let you know your results are ready in a secure patient portal. Positive results will also receive a phone call. Test results will arrive within 36 hours or expedited within 24 hours from the time US BioTek Laboratories receives your sample. 

What kind of test is being offered?

We use a nucleic acid amplification test (NAAT) that utilizes real-time reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) technology for detection of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, for the purpose of meeting the requirements of the State of Hawaii’s Pre-Travel Testing Program. The test is a healthcare worker administered nasal swab or saliva collection test.

Is this test insurance reimbursable?

This test may or may not be eligible for insurance reimbursement. Please check with your insurance provider for more details.

Can children be tested?

Yes, children of any age can be tested with our COVID-19 RT-PCR test.

Can more than one person be tested at a time?

Yes! Appointment timing differs based on the location.

How far in advance should I get tested?

Under the State of Hawaii Pre-Travel Testing Program travelers will have to test negative for COVID-19 no more than 72 hours before your flight's departure time to Hawaii to qualify for the quarantine exemption. Therefore, you need to schedule a test no sooner than three days prior to your departure time to Hawaii to be within the 72-hour window. We recommend scheduling your test between 2-3 days in advance of the departure time of your flight.

What do I need to bring with me to my appointment?

Please bring your photo ID, PayPal receipt as proof of purchase, and a printed and completed intake form. This form will be included in your appointment confirmation email. Photo ID is not required for children under the age of 18.

What time should I arrive for my appointment and how long will it last?

Make sure to arrive 10 minutes in advance of your appointment time. If you arrive late for your appointment, you may experience a longer  wait time for your specimen collection.

Each appointment is 15 minutes in length and suitable for testing 1-2 people. 30 minute appointments are available for groups of 3-4.

What is your cancellation policy?

A full refund will be issued if you cancel your appointment with 24 hours notice prior to your scheduled appointment time. No refunds will be issued if less than 24 hours of notice is given.
