Lab Equipment Technician

We are seeking a full-time onsite Lab Equipment Technician to join our dedicated team. This role will maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment and systems to ensure optimal operational efficiency. This includes performing regular maintenance, resolving technical issues and supporting lab staff in the safe and effective use of lab technology.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES include:

· Perform routine maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment to ensure compliance with industry standards and operational specifications.

· Troubleshoot and repair malfunctioning equipment and systems, minimizing downtime and disruptions to laboratory operations.

· Install new laboratory equipment and assist in the training of lab personnel on proper operation and safety protocols.

· Document all maintenance activities, including repairs, replacements, and service checklists, maintaining clear and accurate records for compliance and audit purposes.

· Coordinate with vendors and service providers to secure necessary parts, manage warranties, and schedule services that exceed internal capabilities.

· Assist in developing and updating maintenance procedures and equipment manuals to enhance operational efficiency and safety.

· Provide technical support and advice to laboratory staff, aiding in the resolution of operational issues and the optimization of lab processes.

· Stay informed of the latest developments in laboratory technology and participate in training as required to maintain high professional standards and knowledge

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Associate degree in a technical field such as Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent work experience.

· Minimum of 2 years’ related experience, preferably in a laboratory or clinical setting.

· Strong understanding of mechanical, electronic, and computer systems, particularly those used in laboratory environments.

· Working knowledge of MS Office required; programming language knowledge such as C or Python preferred.

· Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

· Good communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey technical information effectively.

· Familiarity with regulatory standards affecting laboratory equipment, such as ISO, FDA, or similar.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, sit/stand for extended periods, as well as bend, squat and reach.

· Fine motor skills, including ability to use hand tools.

· Visual Acuity and ability to see and manipulate small parts within electronic equipment.

Pay Range: $25/hr - $30/hr, DOE
