Laboratory Equipment Maintenance Technician

We are a growing laboratory in Shoreline, Washington with a wonderful group of employees and are seeking a candidate to work in our clinical testing facility to join our dedicated Laboratory Equipment and System Support team as a Part-Time on-site Laboratory Equipment Maintenance Technician. Our tests have helped thousands of people around the world to better health with no use of medicine. Our clients are Naturopaths, Medical Doctors, Nurse Practitioners, and other health professionals who will provide their patients with guidance based on our test results. POSITION TITLE: Laboratory Equipment Maintenance Technician (Part-Time)


POSITION SUMMARY: The primary role for this position will be to work in our Laboratory Equipment and System Support Department and reports to our System Support Manager. We are looking for a detail-oriented, results-driven Laboratory Equipment Maintenance Technician in a fast-paced environment to support US BioTek Laboratory Equipment and System Support Group in equipment maintenance and repairs. The Part-Time Laboratory Equipment Maintenance Technician will be responsible for performing scheduled preventive maintenance for laboratory equipment. Tasks may include cleaning, replacing parts, failure diagnostics, repair, calibration, validation, and reporting.



The Laboratory Equipment Maintenance Technician (Part-Time) responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on laboratory equipment.

  • Investigate failures or unexpected maintenance problems, speak to users to get to the root of their problems, follow up to ensure the issue is resolved.

  • Repair damaged equipment.

  • Install and test new equipment.



  • High School Diploma or equivalent, or relevant work experience with a basic understanding of electrical, mechanical, fluid, and wiring connections.

  • Possess strong time management skills as well as the ability to prioritize competing priorities in a complex and fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to work independently and be self-motivated.

  • Ability to work during weekends and outside normal office hours.

  • Proficient with hand tools and selected power tools.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.

  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication.



  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to operate a computer with requisite typing skills and spend a significant portion of work hours viewing a computer screen.
  • Ability to both sit for extended periods.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to bend, squat, and reach to locate, retrieve, and organize materials for extended periods.
  • Fine motor skills, including knowledge and ability to use hand tools requiring fine motor skills.
  • Visual Acuity and ability to see and manipulate small parts within electronic equipment such as within computers and robotics machinery.
  • Laboratory environment - possible exposure to chemical, biological, or other hazardous substances.
  • This position requires working in a laboratory environment and wearing personnel protective equipment (PPE) which may include wearing a lab coat and face shield for long periods of time.
