Assistant Controller

Our clients are Naturopaths, Medical Doctors, Nurse Practitioners, and other health professionals who will provide their patients with guidance based on our test results. US BioTek has been a well-run, solid, and profitable business for 20+ years and we are now ready to take this a step further and are implementing an aggressive growth strategy.

We are looking for a skilled, experienced, and energetic Assistant Controller to join as a key member of the accounting and operations department.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Complete and review monthly accounting close process including analytical review of the monthly operating results to ensure accurate accounting records are maintained.
  • Accurate and timely production of all financial information.
  • Perform cash projections to effectively manage cash balances and maximize the return on any excess cash balances.
  • Calculate commission and related bonuses monthly, quarterly, annually in accordance with the respective employee compensation schemes.
  • Responsible for all payroll related calculations and submissions to 3rd party service provider
  • Prepare and update budget and forecast to mitigate risk and to reflect actual performance.
  • Implement and improve (when necessary) accounting policies and procedures such as invoice processing, cash management, and vendor processing.
  • Implement, document, and maintain adequate and effective internal controls for all processes.
  • Implement, document, and maintain adequate and effective processes to improve the close and reporting cycles to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
  • Ensure that accounting treatment of all transactions are in compliance with GAAP.
  • Provide knowledge and conclusion on the accounting treatment of complex accounting issues (in relation to the laboratory services)
  • Coordination with 3rd party firm on consolidated tax provision, state and sales tax, and tax return projects.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable financial and tax laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Provide financial analyses as needed in pricing decisions on sales and revenue-related statistics.
  • Supervise a team of 3 members.


  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required, CPA strongly preferred.
  • 2+ years experience managing accountants and the accounting and finance process.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP reporting requirements
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Track record of working effectively with cross-functional team members
  • Ability to be flexible, multi-task, meet tight deadlines, and prioritize
  • Knowledge of GAAP and demonstrated ability to research and apply accounting rules.
  • Ability to research issues independently and communicate conclusions effectively.
  • High-quality communication skills (written and oral) required.
  • Ability to deal well with ambiguity and thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and technical skills required.
  • Systems: QuickBooks Enterprise, MS Office, and SQL database
