Specimen Labeling
- Specimens must be labeled immediately after collection (on vial(s) and/or ziploc bags containing specimen).
- Information on the label should include the following:
- Patient's full name
- Date and time of collection
Shipping
- Dried whole blood and urine specimens may be safely shipped at room temperature via USPS.
- Serum specimens mailed from Washington State, Alaska and Hawaii may be mailed via USPS with the prepaid mailers provided. A more immediate delivery is at the cost of the physician.
- Serum and 24-hour urine specimens for the 48 contiguous U.S.A. states may be shipped via prepaid 2nd day FedEx Express.
- Doctors requesting delivery of serum specimens earlier than 2nd day FedEx express are responsible for the additional charges.
2nd Day FedEx Shipping Procedure:
- Complete the prepaid FedEx Express Billable Stamp.
- Attach the Billable Stamp to the FedEx Express Clinical Pak.
- Place the specimen(s) and the completed test requisition form into the FedEx Express Clinical Pak. Seal securely.
- If FedEx Express does not visit the doctor's office for regular scheduled pick-ups, the doctor is required to call them at 1-800-463-3339 for the location of the nearest FedEx Express Drop Station.
- For tracking purposes, please keep a copy of the shipment number.
International clientele are responsible for all shipping charges and compliance to declaration requirements for biological specimens.
Specimen Testing
- Test turnaround time may vary according to the test requested. These are listed under the individual Test Overviews.
- Test turnaround time may be delayed for a specimen that is either on billing hold due to insufficient funds or processing hold that may require confirmation of any information on the test requisition form.
